It looks like a star of Lost – which is ending the series this May – gets to relax in Hawaii for the foreseeable future.
Daniel Dae Kim has landed the lead role as Detective Chin Ho Kelly on the CBS Studios/network remake of Hawaii Five-O.
In the original, Detective Kelly was played by Kam Fong.
The pilot is being written by the power-combo Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci – the two writers responsible for the VERY profitable Transformers (1 & 2)& new Star Trek movie, along with working on Fringe & Lost. It will also be worked on by Peter Lenkov, executive producer/co-showrunner of CSI: NY.
The other lead, Detective Steve McGarrett hasn’t been cast yet.

With all the positive news about cable shows getting renewals, it was just a matter of time before there was a report about one getting cancelled.
TLC has confirmed that American Chopper will bow out with its season (now series) ender on Thursday, February 11th.
The show has lasted six seasons. It debuted on Discovery in 2003, then moved to TLC (which is still owned by the same people as the Discovery Channel).

Thanks to Fast & Furious (the 4th movie in the franchise) being the highest grossing of the group, Universal has ordered up another.
The fifth movie will be called Fast Five, and will continue the story of Dom & Brian (who will have Vin Diesel & Paul Walker return to those respective roles) fugitives on the run.
According to Rotten Tomatoes: Justin Lin and Chris Morgan, respectively the director and screenwriter of Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious, will be back for this fifth film, as will franchise producer Neil Moritz.
Universal is looking at 2011 for the release of the new movie.

Fans of So You Think You Can Dance have reason to dance (sorry for the pun).
The hit reality competition’s 7th season will premiere with a 2-hour show on May 27th on FOX from 8-10pm (ET).
The show recently came off a successful 6th season that aired in the fall on FOX, helping the network win in the 4th quarter – where they usually get beaten quite badly.
